Back to School Night

You are invited to attend our Back to School Night for parents on Thursday, September 1. Social time and a general program begin at 6:30. I will have two homeroom presentations: 7:30 - 7:50 and then 8:00 - 8:20. I hope to see everyone there.

Wednesday, August 31

We had a great day and the kids are really falling into step very well. I am impressed.

Assignments:

Religion (8C): Memory Work (p.5,7) will be due in the form of a written test on Wednesday, September 7. This is a change from what was originally announced. We will be finishing Lesson 1 tomorrow and beginning Lesson 2 (Matthew).

Language Arts (8All): DOL (Daily Oral Language) began today. This happens each day at the beginning of class and is recorded in the student's DOL spiral notebook. Johnny Tremain was introduced today as we laid some groundwork of recalling information about the Revolutionary War. Chapter I should be read by Tuesday, September 6.

General Math (8): Lsn. 1.2 -- Evaluating Variable Expressions -- p. 9, 23-45 odd; p. 10, 48-62 even, 64-68 all.

Thanks for your support and let me know if you have any questions.

Furl

I want to introduce you to Furl. This is a great program that allows you to bookmark Internet pages from anywhere to an archive which then can be accessed from any computer. At the bottom of this blog, you will see a list of links that are webpages that I have recently "furled". This will continue to update as I furl items. If interested, go to furl.net and furl away! (Best of all...it's free!)

Religion 8C: We began the discussion about "The Gospels" (Lesson 1). Students should complete BL #1.

General Math: After introduction, we covered Lesson 1.1. The assignment for tomorrow is p. 5-6, 1-13 odd.

Electives will begin on Wednesday, August 31. This afternoon we will be watching a video about bullying. Have a great day!

Day One!

8C had a great start this morning! After some general orientation, we headed to chapel which was led by Pastor Martin. No assignments were given today. Just remember to take care of the "opening" paperwork, earthquake kits, etc. Let me know if you have any questions!

Welcome to St. Paul's and 8C!

Wow! I really enjoyed meeting and talking with each of you last Thursday. Open House always gets my "juices" going. I am looking forward to Monday as we begin the 2005 school year.

Remember to take care of covering all of your hardcover books (Math, Social Studies, and Science) for school on Monday. Also, be sure to have your Elective registration complete and ready to turn in. Electives will start on Tuesday.

This will be the spot to look for Homework and General Information updates. Let me know how it works for you.

I look forward to seeing you on Monday and let's have a great year.
