Hot, Hot, Hot!

Today was a hot one here at St. Paul's. The kids were draggin' a bit by the end of the day, but they still left with some "gusto".

Today's Work:
  • Relgion: We did start Lesson 8 (The Miracles in Capernaum) since we arrived back from chapel early. No Homework.
  • Language Arts: Verbs and verbals are giving the students fits. We will continue to work through the material together so that they can reach a high level of mastery. We will begin diagramming sentences in the next few weeks in order to see a "picture" of the sentence. Homework: SB 161-162; Writing Journal # 5.
  • General Math: "Combining Like Terms" -- White -- RT 16-17; Blue -- p. 59-60; 13-15, 18-23, 26-27, 30-32, 36-37, 43; Due Monday!

Today is the First Day of the Rest of Your Life!

I knew immiadetly it must be Fall this morning since I was greeted by a very warm "Santa Ana". With the predicted hot weather this week, be sure to remind your child to drink plenty of liquid and to eat plenty of fruits and vegtables. This will assist them in having a great and successful day!

Assignments:
  • Religion: We completed Lesson 7 today. Our discussion focused on God's Call to us. How do we know He is calling? How do we know it is His Call versus our "call"? Great discussion. No Homework for tonight.
  • Language Arts: We have now completed 23 lessons in DOL (Daily Oral Language). The class participated in a presentation about the Uses of Verbs. Skillsbook 153-154 is due tomorrow. Don't forget...JT SG Chapter 5 is due on October 4. Also, a reminder: Students are to have two spiral notebooks available for Language Arts; 1) DOL; and 2) Writing Journal. These are to be separte notebooks.
  • General Math: "White" -- RT 7-8; "Blue" -- p. 55-56; 11-14, 16-18, 23-27, 33-34.
Have a great day!

What a great day to be alive!

After a very busy weekend, I was excited to get back to the classroom today. I have a blast working with your student. I am blessed!

Assignments:
  • Religion: We turned in the Unit 1 Assessment today. The kids did a great job illustrating and explaining what they "took" from "The Gospels". We will start Unit 2 tomorrow as we look at the early part of Jesus' ministry.
  • Language Arts: The students went through an orientation of www.turnitin.com. They should come home tonight with some information that will help to explain how the program works for you. Having an active e-mail address is advantageoud, but not required. No assignment for tomorrow.
  • General Math: We took the test on Chapter 1 today. As we begin Chapter 2, it is important that you spend some time each evening reviewing and monitoring your student's progress in Math. We will review the test and begin Chapter 2 tomorrow.
Have a great Monday night!
